Art is a beauitful escape

I specialize in Acrylic on canvas

In my late 20s and early 30s I was forced to make a life changing decision. Choose a stable life, not a free one, but one with a stable income and a warm home with my family. Or choose a life with freedom away from my family and loved ones, that is full of struggle and hardship, long lonely nights, and a future that I can't predict. I chose the latter. And art was the sholuder I cried on.

The Cardinal -

the messenger from

the other world

In 2020 the year we all went through a life changing experince, my father passed away.

We were not on good terms, as I made the decision to start a new life in a

foreign country, but he still loved me as his daughter and I loved him and missed him

so much. The news of his passing was devastating. It changed me, it made a hole in

my heart, a dark deep hole where cold dry air enters my body. There is a myth about

cardinals, that they are associated with departed loved ones. A few days after the news

of my father's passing I saw a cardinal in the window of our apartment in Brooklyn New York. I know cardinals are no stranger in New York, but I have never seen one in my window or near our apartment until my father passed away. I believe it was a sign from my father and that I should get back to painting and express myself through art. As an activist I expressed my freedom of speech in the land of the free, The United States. My activism didn't sit well with the Saudi government. After my father passed away they used the internet to mentally abuse me and spread misinformation by saying that my father "disowned her before he passed way", "he was upset and never liked her activism", and "she brought shame to him". All this was to break me and silence me, but instead I painted The Cardinal - the messenger from the other world. I painted this piece while my tears dropped listening to Adagio for stringes the classic piece by Samuel Barber. Art gave me a shoulder to cry on.

The Quetzal -

the wings of freedom

A myth says that the Mayans considered the quetzal as a symbol of freedom because it will choose starving and dying in captivity rather than living in a cage. Birds have wings to fly and see the world as it is - beautiful, vast, full of chances, full of hope and full of new beginings.

The intelligent Raven

My husband's favorite bird and my new obsession. I learned so much about ravens and how smart and intelligent they are. They communicate with each other in a very sophisticated way. They also feel empathy and never forget if someone treated them good or bad. Yes, they hold grudges too.

The Hummingbird

The humminbird and its iridescent feathers - the great inspiration for fashion designers all around the world

The great grey owl of Yosemite

A picture my husband took while he was in Yosemite photographing wild life inspired this painting.

The red Boat

Lake Chabot

I studied my master's degree in Northern California. I was always facinated by how calm and beautiful Lake Chabot was.

Summer trip

in the CARIBBEAN waters

The beautiful Crystal clear waters in the Caribbean inspired this painting. when you swim in the warm waters of the Caribbean you will fall in love immediately.

The Barista

Coffee is a passion and making coffee is an art.

As a coffee lover I have great respect for baristas and their work. In this piece I tried to bring up the details of a coffee shop so the viewer can smell the coffee just by looking at this painting. It is also important to note that I mixed coffee grounds with my brown acrylic color when painting the embossed coffee beans.

disquiet

I have been always inspired by how strong and resilient black women are. In this paiting I used acrylic nails to complement her hands and add a nice embossed touch to the painting

The Saudi Farmer

Saudi women were part of the working force even before discovering oil. They worked in the farms in the Saudi mountains where the weather was not as harsh as in the desert. And they worked with style and grace.

Acrylic on wooden panel

I tried to explore more and experiment with new things.

So I challenged myself to paint on wood without primers and the result

was very pleasing

It feels like spring

The purple Anemone

Calla lily with dew

Obviously, I love a good challenge. Bring me one and let's see what

we come up with.
